Week Fifty-Two: Deconstruct Your Manifesto and Begin Again

Fifty-two weeks later and how has your manifesto treated you? Now is the time to pull it apart, tear it down and see how well it ticked.

Did it guide you, aid you, push you in new directions?

What goals did you achieve? What parts will carry on into this new year?

It’s time to get out the scissors and glue, cut that thing apart and make something new! New manifesto time!

And this time, it’s all on your own.

Week Fifty-One: New Year!

Welcome to The Future! 2010 – where flying cars and hoverboards are just around the corner. Time for resolutions and all that.

My resolution for last year – to eat more cheese – started off strong, but, like all resolutions seem to, waned in the end.

This year my resolution doubles as my motto:

THE FUTURE IS NOW!

This saying distils all that I want to achieve – to reach for my goals, to live in the present, to imagine and create, to get a jetpack.

How ’bout you? How did your resolutions go this last year. What are you resolving this new year? Hmmm?

Week Fifty: Oh, There I Am

Nearing the end of the year, I feel like I am further behind in my race for life than ever before. But happy faces and all that. The new year is about beginnings and getting on track and all kinds of inspirational messages.

So, now I know where I am and am sorting out where I want to be.

Also, kittens are pretty great.

Week Fifty: Where Am I?

Man, I don’t know what the hell happened there. Suddenly it’s two weeks later and I’m waking up in a room full of feather pillows, tinned ravioli and what look like costumes from a musical production of Bangers and Mash.

ANYWAY…

I’ve got some catching up to do. The year is ending and the first words out of my mouth when waking up to a mouth full of feathers also applies to life in general: Where Am I?

The year was started with a manifesto and a plan. Where in the plan do I feel I am? Nearing the end? Stuck in the middle? Way back further behind than when I started?

Time to sit back in the sun (holidays!) and reflect on where this past year has taken me, where I want to go and where exactly I am.  Care to join me?

Week Forty-Seven: Research Your Dreams

Well, not literally your dreams, although that is pretty great also (apparently my constant dreaming about hotels means I need to move away from my old habits and old ways of thinking).

I’m talking more about researching your goals and aspirations.

  • Want to fly a plane one day? Find out just what that entails – flight school, related laws, just how rich you need to be to have your own.
  • Want to be a style icon? Check out the stories of some other famous stylish people, and dig deep in the history of fashion.
  • Want to run a theatre? Look into the gritty details of just what that means and the steps it takes to get there.
  • Want to eat a cupcake? Read a recipe or two to appreciate what your nomming down on.

Knowing how to proceed is half the battle. The other half has knives in it.

Week Forty-Six: Celebrate an Unusual Event

Birthdays, weddings, Christmas, bar mitzvahs… these are all events which require cake, and are therefore awesome. But there are so few of them in a year.

This week I’m going to celebrate the unnoticed events.

For example:

  • Presenting someone with a “Happy Biopsy” cake.
  • Handing someone a novelty sized card proclaiming “Have a Humpin’ Hump Day”.
  • Giving someone a small wrapped gift in honour of their Best Outfit Yet.
  • Decorating and sharing a small cake each morning with the day of the week written on top in colourful icing.

Seriously though… cake.

Week Forty-Five: SPIN!

Week Forty-Five: Get Dizzy

Here is your mission, if you choose to accept it.

First, you need a large stick, or broom handle, or a thin spear.

Hold the stick/handle/spear high above your head, both hands at the bottom, pointing straight in the air.

Look upwards, to the tip of the spear-handle, and spin, quickly, around and around and around, keeping your eyes on the topmost tip of the stick-broom.

When you feel like you might throw up at any moment, stop spinning and lay the broom-spear down in front of you, horizontally, so it creates a line.

Now, jump over the line.

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

This mission will self-destruct in 3… 2… 1…
