Week Thirty-Five: Linguaphiled

‘Refulgent’ by Jon Erickson

A cheat sheet for the dilatory – here are the last week’s words of the day from dictionary.com:

  1. sacrosanct: sacred; inviolable.
  2. refulgent: brilliant; resplendent.
  3. malapropism: the usually unintentionally humorous misuse of a word.
  4. noisome: offensive or disgusting; also, harmful; unwholesome.
  5. puissant: powerful.
  6. inure: to make used to; also, to take or have effect.
  7. bucolic: rustic; pastoral.

I already knew and used two on the list, had heard of two more, and now have three completely hitherto unknown words to sprinkle in my sparkling conversation.

Doesn’t that make you feel puissant?
